Globe and Laurel article about Bob

 

Bob was born on the 11th October 1925 in Brighton Road, Croyden, Surrey, and grew up in and around the Battersea area of London.

On the 30th June 1943 he enlisted at Easterly Barracks, Portsmouth Division and joined the 299 Squad.

Serving at the Portsmouth Division from 30th June 1943 to 14th March 1944.

He then served on H.M.S. Howe from 15th March 1944 to 7th July 1946.

Returning to the Portsmouth Division on the 8th July to 18th September 1946.

On the 9th July 1948 he left Southampton on board the S.S. Asturias and arrived in Freemantle Western Australia on the 5th August 1948.

On the 21st January 1950 he married to Rita Eileen Bunton. They were later blessed with two children, Stephen John Howse who was born on 22nd July 1955, and Peter Michael Howse who was born on the 24th December 1959.
